AFS Ambassador & Community Leader

Gurdev Singh Rayat is a highly respected figure within the UK Sikh community and serves as an Ambassador and Community Leader at Alcohol Free Sikhs. With decades of service dedicated to faith, culture, and wellbeing, Gurdev Ji brings deep-rooted community insight and unwavering commitment to supporting individuals on their journey to alcohol-free living.

He is a Founding Member of the Ramgarhia Sikh Association Woolwich, an Executive Member of the Supreme Sikh Council, and a Trustee of the Ramgarhia Association, playing a pivotal role in strengthening community engagement and representation at both grassroots and national levels.

Awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for his outstanding service, Gurdev Ji leads with humility, wisdom, and a passion for empowering others through Sikh values, unity, and compassion. At AFS, he champions awareness, outreach, and meaningful dialogue within Gurdwaras and wider networks.

His mission is to guide clients out of survival mode and into a life of clarity, confidence, balance, and lasting joy, so they can thrive not just in their careers, but in every aspect of life.

Dr. Parwaan Singh Oberoi completed his BDS in India and earned his Master’s degree from the prestigious London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. As a patient-focused dentist, he is dedicated to providing excellent care and making a positive impact on his patients’ lives. Fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi, he brings a culturally sensitive approach to his practice.

Dr Gurjeet Jutley FRCOphth, BM, BSc (Hons)

Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon | Advocate for Alcohol-Free Living

Gurjeet Jutley is a Consultant Ophthalmologist based in Oxford, specialising in cataract and glaucoma surgery. With a career built on precision, compassion, and continuous innovation, he offers a wide range of treatments from conventional surgeries such as trabeculectomy and tube shunt procedures to cutting-edge techniques like minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). He is a high output cataract surgeon, using an array of lenses to achieve excellent outcomes and spectacle independence.

Growing up in a Sikh household, Gurjeet is proud to live by the principles of seva (selfless service), sat (truthful living), and compassion, values that closely align with the mission of Alcohol Free Sikhs. His clean lifestyle is both a personal commitment and a professional statement, resonating deeply with the ethos of promoting wellbeing, clarity, and balance in life.

In his role as an ambassador for Alcohol Free Sikhs, Gurjeet shares his expertise to raise awareness about the critical link between alcohol consumption and eye health. He regularly engages in community education, offering insights into how lifestyle can impact vision, accelerate ocular conditions such as glaucoma and cataracts, and contribute to long-term eye damage.

Through his clinical practice and his involvement with Alcohol Free Sikhs, Gurjeet Jutley is committed to empowering individuals with knowledge and encouraging healthier choices that support long-term wellbeing.

Subhash Suthar

Clinical & Therapeutics pharmacist, with a focus in Eye Health Education

Subhash Suthar is a trained Clinical & Therapeutics pharmacist, with a focus in Eye Health Education. He is nationally & internationally involved with many organisations and regularly delivers educational sessions about eye care. He has developed the WOK (Wrist-On-Knuckle) drops instilling technique, for safe and correct eye drops instillation. Winner of 2019, David Burt inaugural award on Advances in Vision care. He is focused on programmes targeted to ethnic requirements (speaking in Ethnic Languages viz. Gujarati, Hindi, Swahili) for eye health and eye drops.

Hemant Patel is a retired pharmacist, clinical leader, and bestselling author dedicated to transforming lives through science-backed health education and community empowerment. With over four decades of experience, he bridges the worlds of pharmacy, functional medicine, and public health to address the root causes of chronic illness.

A passionate advocate for self-care and preventative health, Hemant now focuses on educating diverse communities about inflammation, lifestyle disease, and drug-induced nutrient depletion. His work empowers individuals and families to reclaim their energy, purpose, and vitality – naturally and sustainably.
